We picked up only a small amount of La Vega this year and want to ensure our subscribers get access to this really special relationship coffee! We began working with Christian Osorio less than three years ago and when we first met him and his family it was three generations in one small dirt floor house. They had no processing equipment other than a plastic pail they were using for floating cherries.

The coffee we cupped that year nearly scored 90 points (think 96-97 point wine) and really blew us away with blackberry and dark chocolate flavors. We bought all they had, which was about 5 bags, and paid them what we thought was a reasonable price. We came back the next year and just off those five bags Christian had installed four new drying tables, built a two story wet mill, and planted a whole new tract of pink bourbon coffee plants! Those five bags were all they produced, and we didn't pay any crazy premium or offer any charity type price; we paid what the coffee was worth.

It really impressed on us again the impact doing good business in coffee can have. The bar is so low that often it doesn't take a lot to make a significant impact!
