San Isidro • First foray into Honduran coffees

January 01, 2020

Katia Duke is a second generation coffee producer and she grew up on San Isidro watching her parents produce coffee. After getting her degree in agronomy she started working with her parents full time on the farm while implementing new processing and agronomy methods. It's not an exaggeration to say that she has become one of the foremost coffee producers in Honduras; overcoming many obstacles in this male dominated industry to stand on her own reputation.

She was in the states this year and asked if she could bring some of her coffees by to cup with us. Usually we go to the coffee, but this time the farmer came to us! We haven't worked in Honduras in the past, and were glad to pick up one of her micro-lots that was particularly sweet and chocolatey. This is exactly the type of coffee that subscriptions were designed for- exploring new coffees and regions alongside us!
