Amid the lush and humid hills of Northern Sumatra, we find Voster Hutamabarat, who is breaking free from tradition to forge a sustainable future centered on quality. While the "Wet Hull" process is the norm in Sumatra—where coffee is dried without parchment to speed up production—this method often leads to earthy and funky flavors but lacks a focus on quality. Fully drying the coffee in its parchment may take longer, but it offers a more authentic representation of the terroir and variety.
Voster has been fully drying his coffee for several years now, and we are thrilled to partner with him on this journey to transform Sumatran coffee culture. The quality of his coffee improves each year, showcasing a remarkable cleanliness and depth of flavor, while still retaining familiar notes associated with Sumatran coffees of the past.

Voster has been fully drying his coffee for a few years. We are very excited to be his partners along this pursuit to changing the Sumatran coffee culture. The coffee he is producing gets better every year. It's exceptionally clean with familiar notes associated with Sumatran coffees of the past but much more depth of flavor.
