Maria and Alfredo Pacas carry forward a proud family legacy, rooted in their grandmother’s work building El Retiro into a renowned farm. Today, they focus not only on exceptional coffee but on the wellbeing of their team, fostering confidence and pride among their managers. When I visited, their deep, almost familial connection to the coffee trees stood out. Though their methods have evolved, a signature sweetness remains. This Orange Bourbon grows beneath native shade trees in volcanic soil, where rugged mountains descend toward the sea.
